Weapons of Ryukyu Kobujutsu
The
Ryukyu Kobujutsu Association teaches the traditional eight kinds of
weapon as handed down by the late Grandmaster Shinken Taira. These
weapons are the Bo, Sai, Tonfa, Kama, Tekko, Nunchaku, Tinbe-Rochin
and the Surujin.
The
Birmingham branch dojo conforms to the requirements of the Association
and ensures that all students undergo the same syllabus
in
order to produce consistency of quality and execution of technique.

Each

only the high degree of skill required to be proficient,
but also instils understanding of each weapon. These
weapons are linked in usage and action and naturally
compliment the corresponding open hand techniques. It is
important to understand these links, as this allows progress and continual enhancement of the
understanding of their use and deployment.
